Congratulations to all four teams just making the finals is a big accomplishment, with both leagues being as close as they were. Hope everyone had as good as year as I had, can’t wait for next year all ready.
Peewee Finals
Riders 22 vs. Lions 33
The night was cold but both teams came out of the gate hot, scoring and scoring often. The Riders were led by their hard working running back Brayden Martin, who scored 2 Td’s on runs of 50 and 46 yards, Ryan Reidy tossed a great 28 yard score to Payton Fisher and line backer Andrew Larmour kicked the 2 point convert as well as helping get a 2 point safety touch on defence. The Lions, who were trying to finish the season undefeated, did just that, when Jonah Branning scored 3 Td’s on runs of 15, 55 and 59 yards, Qb Raine Eberl hit the promise land once, Kolby Nant had a 2 points convert and Ben Helland earned his Td the hard way right up the middle and then caught a 1 point convert.
MVP’s for both team Riders Brayden Martin and Lions Jade Sheperd.
Bantam Finals
Falcons 0 vs. Colts 29
The Falcons had some great performances from Qb Bailey Wong, 12 carries for 60, Adam Helland, 7
touches for 35 yards, Kyle Arndt and Riley Raduik hauled in a couple of passes each. All that effort was for not as the Falcons could not get to the End Zone, something we in Saskatchewan are getting use to because of our beloved Riders. The Colts on the other hand found it and once they did kept coming back for more, Drew Nimegeers scored twice on 2 and 17 yard runs and Jackson Klein had two as well on 2 and 35 yards runs, Dabulis Ebet had the other 5 points, kicking 2 converts, running in a 2 pointer and 1 on a missed 25 yard field goal.
MVP’s for both team were Falcons Bailey Wong and Drew Nimegeers.
Provincial Finals
November 6th
On a day where Moose Jaw was ready the show Saskatoon their hospitality, Mother Nature decided to show her bad side by dumping 3 – 4 inches of snow on the field. But in true Moose Jaw fashion a group of volunteers came to the rescue, parents, coaches, executives and one perfect stranger came out with brooms ,shovels, walk behind snow blowers, riding snow blowers and even a big frontend loader to clear all the snow from the field so the kids could at least attempt to show their skills.
It may have took four hours to clear the field and the games may have started an hour behind schedule but in the end the kids got to play and that is what it’s all about, letting the kids play.
Thank you to all the volunteers, far too many to name, you know who you are and Moose Jaw Minor Football and Saskatoon Kinsmen Minor Football owe you big.
Peewee Provincial
Saskatoon Falcons 32 vs. Moose Jaw Renegades 14
The Renegades started by getting a 2 pt safety from the defence early in the game to take a lead, the only lead they had from there on the Falcons took over. The Renegades two Td’s came on a 1 yd run Td from Raine Eberl and a 60 yd run from Jonah Branning. The Falcons, who willingly gave up the safety came back with a boom on a 38 yd Td run by speedster Bailey Taylor, Zach Edwards kicked the 2 pt convert. Then on the last play of the half Edwards decided to show the crowd just how fast lightning is by out running everyone for an 87 yd Td run. In the second half Taylor and Edwards both scored another Td each and Edward kicked all converts.
The MVP’s for each team were Zach Edwards for Saskatoon & Raine Eberl for Moose Jaw.
Bantam Provincial
Saskatoon Falcons 19 vs. Moose Jaw Jets 6
Saskatoon may have won on the score board but Moose Jaw can walk away with a moral victory of just playing the game. With only 24 players, that included 3 kids from Assiniboia and 2 from the Peewee team. The Jets did all they could do just to play, let alone compete with the Falcons. Great job guys, you made the league, as well as the city proud. Falcons led by Paul Farbacher, who carried the ball 18 times and scored one Td, Braxton Dirham scored on a 55 yd run and Dylan Kloschinsky caught a 22 yd pass from Owen Armstrong. The Jets only score came on a great effort from Zach Lethbridge, who broke five or six tackles and went 54 yd to pay dirt, Bailey Wong had a good came with 11 carries.
The MVP’s for each team were Falcons Paul Farbacher and Jets Zach Lethbridge
Congratulation to both Saskatoon Falcons teams, see you next year in Saskatoon.
